You don’t need to have a Barclays bank account to apply but you will need to have a UK bank or building society account that is compatible with direct debits. Do you need to be a UK resident to open an account with Interactive Investor Share Dealing? Yes, only UK residents can open an account with Interactive Investor Share Dealing, i.e. an individual residing in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Can I open an account if I live in a foreign country? Overseas residents can apply for the Overseas Resident Trading Account. Please call 0044 161 819 6467 for more information. Applications from other countries will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please note that due to international tax reporting, it is not possible to open an account if you are currently a resident in the US or Canada. Please see our list of acceptable countries for further details. Any country that is not on the list of acceptable countries is not a member of the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) and therefore prospective Customers (who reside in these countries) will not be able to open an account with us.

Online trading is a simple flat fee of £12.50, or just £9.95 online when you trade more than 10 times or more in a quarter.

We do charge an Account Management fee of £10+ VAT per quarter on Trading Accounts that have not traded and have a combined cash and stock valuation of less than £5,000.
